What Is Viscosupplementation?
If conservative therapies, pain relievers, and corticosteroid injections have failed to treat your knee pain, viscosupplementation is the next step. It is noninvasive treatment using a gel-like fluid (hyaluronic acid) and is injected into the knee joint. It acts as a lubricant to promote the joint to move smoothly and act as a shock absorber. This lasts up to 6 months and can be received in a series of 1-6 injections.
